ECE Department was started in the year 1980 with an intake of 15. Later in the year 1982 the intake was increased to 30. Since then the intake was gradually increased from 30 to 60 in the year 1990 then to 90 in the year 2001, to 120 in the year 2007, to 180 in the year 2012, to 240 in the year 2014 and then decreased to 180 from 2017. PG course with the specialization DECS was introduced in the year 2011 with an intake of 18 which was later increased to 36 in the year 2014 and switched to Embedded Systems and VLSI in the year 2021 with an intake of 16. Recognized as a research center by JNTUA, Ananthapuramu in 2017.
Electronics and Communication Engineering is concerned with digital circuits, devices, integrated circuits, VLSI design, Embedded Systems and IoT, signal processing, telecommunications, control theory, mobile communication, satellite communication, etc.
The Department has a very good infrastructural and instructional facilities to cater the needs of student community of the department with 8 well equipped laboratories. The Students have full and unconditional access to software/tools like Cadence, Xilinx, Matlab, LabView, FPGA, Arduino Uno, Raspberry pi, NI myrio and mydaq Kits etc. The department is associated with professional bodies like IEEE, IETE and ISTE for faculty and students to enhance their research activities
The department has highly qualified faculty having specialized in diversified areas of technology. Our well qualified faculty brings state-of-the-art research, development, innovation and design experience into the classroom.
The UG programme of the department has been accredited by the NBA in 2006, 2010 and 2023 (Tier-1).

PO1 - Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 - Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substaniated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sicences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 - Design/Development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering has been in existance since from the academic year 1980-81. The B. Tech., course was started with an intake of 15 during the academic year 1980-81 and the curret intake is 180.
The department also started M. Tech.(DECS) program with an intake of 18 students in the academic year 2011-12 and increased to 36 in the year 2014 and switched to Embedded Systems and VLSI in the year 2022.
